Leake & Watts Services Inc.
As part of a multimillion dollar Capital Improvement Program for Leake & Watts Services, a 164 year old, non-profit philanthropic social service organization devoted to the education of youths, Carlo M. Zaskorski & Associates Architects was responsible for the modernization planning and construction administration for the 70,000 s.f. Administration Building.
In association with Richard Dattner Architect the design team, consisting of several engineering consultants, a construction manager and various Leake & Watts representatives, provided an extensive needs assessment evaluation complete with programming space planning, design value engineering and construction cost analysis in order to prioritize the modernization needs of the facility within stringent budgetary constraints
The multistory brick building was built in 1895 and has landmark status. The facility was found to be in need of a major modernization, including new partitions and finishes, a new hydraulic elevator, upgrading of mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems, extensive roofing and exterior work consisting of repointing, new doors and windows, repair of intricate leaded glass fenestration, and new ADA handicapped accessibility.
